Western medicine offers very little that is effective
against the Cold viruses.
It doesn’t matter if it’s a summer cold, winter,
spring or fall, they just don’t know at all.
Most of the drugs only deal with symptoms of a
cold and they can actually suppress the
immune system.
If your immune system is strong, you won’t get sick .
It all has to do with your biological terrain.
When we get a fever most of us take a Tylenol or an
aspirin to lower the fever.
At the first sign of a runny nose we grab an antihistamine
and we take cough suppressants to stop a cough.
All of these symptoms are just the body’s way of
trying to heal itself, to be whole again.
“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”.
* A fever is the body’s way to burn out the virus and increase
the metabolic rate that increases the movement of the white
blood cells.
* A runny nose coats the virus with mucus and then it can
be easily taken out of the body.
* A cough is a natural reflex of getting mucus out of the
lungs.
Generally Colds are a self-limited illness from which virtually
all people recover in a few days, but keep a watchful eye.
Seven to fourteen days are the maxium a cold usually last,
if you have a any dough it’s always a good idea to see a health
professional if you’re not getting better.
Enhancing your immune system is the key to health,
rather than suppressing symptoms.
?A healthy immune system is the best prevention against colds-
and nutrition is the key to a healthy immune system
• Drink, Drink and drink- plenty of water, herbal tea, and
vegetable juice
• Exercise, get fresh air, go for a walk and breath deep
• Eating lightly allows your body’s energy go toward eliminating
the virus instead of digesting your food.
Lay off sugar- Sugar depresses the immune system.
I wish you the best in your Health, Wealth and Happiness

Most of us think that a cold is something that you get in the
winter.
You know those cold days- you get your feet wet, a chill goes
through your body and the next thing you know you got a
whopping cold that knocks you out for a week!
The Summer time doesn’t seem to be the cold season,
but low and behold I am seeing heards of people with summer
colds in my Holistic Practice of Acupuncture.
What the Heck is a Summer Cold anyway?
It can be just an allergy like hay fever, also known as rhinitis-
an allergy that gives you a number of unwanted symptoms,
similar to a cold
• Itchy nose, mouth, eyes, throat, skin, or any area
• Problems with smell
• Runny nose
• Sneezing
• Tearing eyes
These symptoms occur shortly after you come into contact
with the substance you are allergic to and they just don’t go
away until you get away from the allergens or you strengthen
your immune system.
The summer cold is a different creature, when we have a cold
the body goes through many changes.
A cold can come from one of many different types of viral
pathogens.
But remember a cold is a cleansing process to
Clear the Body of Excesses.
If you have been over drinking, overeating, and indulging to
excess, chances are you will get a cold or flu to flush out your
system
“A Natural Detox”.
In Chinese medicine grief and sadness is the emotion associated
with the lungs. The lungs open to the nose; this means that the lungs influence
all the sinuses, bronchial, air passageways, and the nose itself.
Colds often start when we are tired or under stress, sad or have
too much grief in our lives.
Symptoms of a Summer Cold:
· Runny nose
· Sore throat
· Watery eyes
· Headache
· Achy body
· Coughing
· Low energy
· Fever
The good news is the Summer Cold is usually gone within a week.
My Grandmother had many home brewed treatments to cure
a cold such as gargle with salt water for a sore throat.
Take 1 gram of Vitamin C every hour until you got the runs,
and suck on Zinc lozenger.
She claimed these were a sure cure for a cold.
My mother said.” When I was a child my mother would give us
a syrup consisting of a whole onion that was cooked slowly in sugar
water until it got syrupy and them she would make us drink it.”
I asked if it worked and mom said she forgot.
9 Ways To help prevent a cold:
*Wash your hands often
* Stay out of the wind
*Drink 8 to 10 ounces of clean water a day
* Avoid touching your face, especially the nose, mouth, and eye.
* Prevent the spreading of the virus by using paper cups.
* Clean doorknobs, light switches, telephones, remote controls,
and sinks.
*Use paper towels in the kitchen and bathroom for hand washing.
* Get 6 to 8 hours of sleep a night and when you have a cold take a
nap in the hottest part of the day.
• De- stress yourself, if you are stressed it weakens your immune
system and you are more likely to catch a cold
